 Venkatesh IyerRSS

Nowadays there is lot of focus on health. With science advancing, there are lot of comforts in our daily style of living. But the stress level seems to be increasing day by day. This may be due to the hectic life style along with imbalanced diet.

The main thing to be taken care of is to have a very healthy and balanced diet. In the present generation, food is processed in such a way so as to suit the mechanical lifestyle. In such cases, it becomes necessary to have some source of intake of vitamin supplements. There are many breakfast items which have good vitamin supplements.

There are lot of things to consider when having a complete diet - that is it should be healthy and balanced diet. Our body requires a balanced and healthy diet in the form of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins. So everything depends on the amount and variety of foods one has. This will determine whether it will be beneficial or harmful. If one eats too much, they tend to gain weight and if eaten little, tend to lose weight. Eating the right food and an healthy one is quite important.

One can have different types of healthy food, either for breakfast or lunch or dinner. Having a different variety of items either for breakfast or lunch or dinner will in fact tend to give more vitamin supplements.

Breakfast, as one can say, is the first item of the day. This is usually eaten in the morning. It differs from one country to another. In Eritrea and Ethiopia, the breakfast contains of injera (flatbread made from teff) with condiments. Chinese breakfasts vary greatly between different regions. In countries like India, it differs from one region to another. In parts like East India (Orissa, West Bengal) breakfast items include Idaly, Puri, Upama etc. When one goes to South India, breakfast items include idlis, vadas, dosas, pongal etc. In North India, breakfast consists of paratha breads with fresh butter, vegetables etc. In Western Parts of India like Maharashtra, Gujarat, breakfast items include dhokla, sheera etc. Tea is also taken along with the breakfast item. Breakfasts in other countries also differ, may be according to the climatic conditions prevailing over there. People in United States usually prefer sweet or mild flavoured foods, mostly hot.

One can definitely try Indian Healthy Recipes like Dosas for breakfast. Dosas are one of the Healthy Indian Foods. In India, mainly in the Southern Side, people like to have dosas for breakfast or dinner. There are many people who like to have a light dish during night.

Dosa contains rice and white lentil, which are the main constituents for preparation. The preparation of dosa involves little labour like wetting, grinding, fermenting. Dosa can be made easily, say in minutes, if one has an instant ready made mix. The Dosa ready made mix can be stored for months without any problem. It is very rich in carbohydrates and proteins.

Especially for Children, having a breakfast would be like energy boosting. There are reports which have suggested that children having breakfast foods do perform well. For mothers who are quite busy and hardly have the time in morning to pack their children to school, the Instant Dosa Mix would be the ideal solution. This is because it hardly takes 2 minutes to prepare.

Dosas are generally taken with a side dish according to ones choice. It may be Chutney, Sambar, pickles, molgai podi or may be non-vegetarian item.

There are different varieties of Dosas like Masala Dosa, Rava Dosa, Egg Dosa, Onion Dosa, Butter Dosa.

Apart from dosas, one can also try different types of Salads, Fruits etc. Salads are very healthy and mostly they are low in calories. Fruits have lot of vitamins. It is better to have fruits after lunch or dinner.

A good, complete and healthy diet will definitely improve ones health.

Healthy Dessert Recipes on a Slim Fast Diet Plan

Submitted by: David John Lloyd

Counting calories is a lot of work and healthy desert recipes are something that every overweight person should look at to lose those extra pounds. To keep a healthy weight, you need to understand your daily calorie requirements and how various activities affect your energy needs. Then you can watch the calories you eat by checking food labels for calorie content, controlling portion sizes, and avoiding cooking methods that add calories.

You don’t need to eat weird combination's of foods or special supplements to maintain your ideal weight and stay healthy. You just need to eat healthy desert recipes and the same number of calories that you use. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. If you eat too few, you Will not only lose weight, but possibly muscle mass, energy, and, in extreme cases, life itself.

* How Many Calories Do You Need for Healthy desert Recipes?

The number of calories each person needs is unique. No two people including identical twins are exactly alike. To determine how many calories you need, consider the following, your Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) your activity level, your age and to some extent your inherited body type.

Just as a parked car with an idling motor uses gas, so too, does a body at rest consume calories. All of the metabolic processes our bodies constantly perform require energy and the number of calories our bodies require to do all these tasks is called Resting Energy Expenditure (REE).

Once you have calculated your REE, figure out how many calories you burn during the day. By adding these to the REE, you Will know the total number of calories you need daily. Various healthy desert recipes were given to health eleven to fourteen year olds, who are "normally active" need about 1,000 calories over their REE. Girls in the same age group need about 900 calories to provide energy for normal activities. If you exercise vigorously or are involved in sports, you will need additional calories.

* Keeping an Eye on Calorie Intake.

Reading food labels will help you keep track of the number of calories you eat. By law, food labels must list the number of calories per serving as Well as the number of servings in the can or package. However, food label information is not standardized. Therefore, it is important to note what the serving size is.

Most nutritionists place foods into one of six categories:

l) carbohydrates from bread, cereal, rice, and pasta.
2) fruits.
3) vegetables.
4) dairy products.
5) proteins from meat, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts.
6) fats, oils, and sweets.

Each category is assigned a single calorie value per serving. For instance, a serving of vegetables has 25 calories, while a serving of fruit has 60 calories. Dairy products and proteins are assigned ll0 calories per serving. Carbohydrates have 80 calories per serving. Fats, oils, and sweets are assigned 45 calories per serving.

When you eat a well-balanced meal at home, it is relatively easy to keep track of calories and healthy desert recipes, but when you eat out it's more difficult. Eating at a fine restaurant or even a fast-food joint or pizza parlor on occasion is a treat that should not be denied. But making a daily habit of eating fast food or overeating at fine restaurants is a sure way of gaining unwanted weight.

Easy Halloween Recipes: What's on Your Halloween Menu?

Submitted by: Ronda Luve

Planning a Halloween feast? There is nothing more fun to have on hand than easy Halloween recipes. It’s great to watch partygoers partake in halloween treats such as brains, eyeballs, and toes. It not only makes the party fun, but it makes it memorable as well.

Here’s one of my favorite Halloween recipes – Yummy Brains.

What you'll need:

2 3 oz. packages Berry Blue flavored gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 16 oz. package frozen mixed berries
1 cup crushed pineapple, with juice
1 teaspoon black gel food coloring
2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped to stiff peaks
2 brain molds (try WalMart)

Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water, stirring until no sugar crystals appear.

Place the berries in a food processor and pulse until the berries are very fine. Stir in the pineapple and mix with the gelatin. Stir in the black food coloring and place in the refrigerator (or the freezer if you're in a hurry) until syrupy and beginning to set. Fold in the whipped cream. Spray the inside of the mold or bowl with non-stick spray and pour the gelatin mixture into the molds. Refrigerate 3-4 hours until set.

To unmold, place the molds in a bowl of hot water; let sit a minute or two, then place a plate on top of the mold and invert. The brains will fall onto the plate and will be ready to serve. MMMM!

You'll need a supporting cast for the brains. So how about trying out some deviled eyeballs? Basically, these are deviled eggs with a green or black olive in the middle. In the event you do not know how to make deviled eggs, here’s what you'll need:

12 eggs, hard-cooked, cooled and peeled
24 green or black olives stuffed with pimientos
Miracle Whip or mayonnaise
Mustard
Red food coloring
Tabasco (optional)

Slice eggs in half lengthwise. Remove yolks and place in medium bowl. Use a pastry cutter to mash yolks well. Add Mustard and Miracle Whip in a 2-1 ratio to create a paste. Add drops of Tabasco to your heat comfort level, then a few more. Fill egg white halves with yolk mixture, rounding and smoothing the top of each.

Push a whole pimiento-stuffed green or black olive into the center of each yolk well, stuffed side up. Use a toothpick dipped into red food coloring to draw tiny wiggly red lines on whites, to simulate capillaries. You now have some eyeballs ready to eat!

Another of my favorite Halloween recipes is Monster Toes. This easy Halloween recipe should cover your table from head to toe.

You’ll first need cocktail wieners. Cut a wedge into the end of each wiener to make a place for the toenail. Cut flour tortillas into 4 inch long by ¾ inch wide strips. Roll each wiener into a tortilla strip. Secure with a toothpick and place on a cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 7 minutes. After removing from oven, fill the toenail with ketchup and serve. Ewww, but yummy – all at the same time!

Halloween recipes are fun to make and even more fun to eat. There are a lot of creative ways to make easy Halloween recipes – just use your imagination and then enjoy watching your guests eat their scary treats!

Easy Dessert Recipes You Can Make at Home

Submitted by: William Gabriel

Many think that in order for a dessert to be truly special, you need to spend hours slaving in the kitchen to make it. What they fail to realize is that you only need one thing to makeover any simple dessert into something extraordinary – whipped cream!

Here are some recipes with five ingredients (or less) that you can make at home.

Strawberry Shots
Ingredients:
500 grams strawberries (cut in halves)
350 grams sugar
240-ml. rum (optional)
400 grams heavy cream, whipped

Procedure:
In a blender, place half the strawberries along with 100 grams of sugar and process until you have a puree.
Use a whipped cream dispenser and place the whipped cream into a bowl. Gently fold in the strawberry puree and 100 grams of sugar until combined.

Steep the rest of the strawberries in rum with the remaining sugar.

Serve the dessert by placing the steeped berries at the bottom of shot glasses, then top each glass with the strawberry puree and whipped cream mixture.

Creamy Orange with Nuts
Ingredients:
240-ml. heavy cream
180-ml. orange juice (freshly squeezed)
4 tbsp pecans, walnuts, and pistachio (toasted and roughly chopped)

Procedure:
Mix the cream and the orange juice well before placing inside the cream dispenser. Put cream in individual serving dishes and sprinkle with the chopped nuts.

As an option, you may also serve this dessert with fresh oranges that are peeled and sectioned.

Creamy Maple Mousse
Ingredients:
2 medium eggs (separated)
100 grams sugar
120-ml. maple syrup
180-ml. heavy cream

Procedure:
In a bowl, combine the egg yolks, sugar and half of the maple syrup. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Heat what is left of the maple syrup in a microwave until it reaches it boiling point (approximately 45 seconds). Then, set it aside to cool until lukewarm.

Beat the egg whites until stiff while adding the maple syrup a little at a time. Make sure it is well incorporated.
With a cream dispenser, whip the heavy cream and place in a bowl. Fold in the egg yolk and egg white mixture and combine well.

Place in the freezer for a minimum of four hours before serving.

Creamed Rice with Fruits

Ingredients:
½ cup uncooked rice
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1-cup heavy cream
Any fruit in season

Procedure:
Cook the rice with the salt and sugar, stirring constantly. Set aside to cool.
Add a little sugar and vanilla to the cream and mix well. Place inside a cream dispenser
Stir the cream and fruit into the rice and refrigerate before serving.

Creamy Lemon Parfait
Ingredients:

425 grams of sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 tbsp. lemon zest
2 cups sour cream
1 cup heavy cream

Procedure:
In a large bowl, combine condensed milk, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Gently fold in sour cream.
Spoon the mixture into individual serving dishes and place in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
Top with whipped cream using a whipped cream dispenser.
Now, you can truly enjoy great-tasting desserts with real and easy to prepare whipped cream.

Ice cream can be traced back to the Early Roman Empire. Nero (A.D. 37-68) ordered ice cream topped with fresh fruits.
